Compiled in 1985, Descendents' "Bonus Fat" combined the band's 1980, debut single with 1981's "Fat" EP, as well as the outtake "Global Probing." It chronicled the nascent years of one of punk's most vaunted bands during a phase of caffeine-fueled bursts of energy, mapping their transition from a breezy, surf-tinged brand of power pop to the more aggressive, hardcore sound found on the "Fat" EP. Originally released on the Minutemen's New Alliance Records, the tracks laid the groundwork for the landmark debut full-length that would cement the band's legacy forever.
